4.0 out of 5 stars Bebop, January 9, 2010

Light weight and simple. Comfortable with good rotation. Big advantage in the rounded design: doesn't scratch of puncture interior of car when I throw the bike in the back. The design requires close clearance to the bottom of the shoe. I had to cut out some rubber on the inside middle of the shoe to make it work. Normally it is OK and is easy to walk on when off the bike but I have a tendency to pull the right foot out when pumping hard. No way to tighten the spring that I can see.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so walkable, October 23, 2011

I agree with many of the other comments here so will not repeat them. In theory, "MTB" pedals are "walkable". Bebop cleats protrude a lot beyond the sole, more if you use the adapter plate. That's fine if you are on soft surfaces, but can be slippery on hard surfaces, and for cruising around town and doing errands they are more "limpable" than "walkable". The Bebops also make "creaky" noises unless I keep the cleat/pedal surfaces lubricated. On the plus side they use four wrench flats instead of the silly Allen-only of some pedals. I have used Shimano SPDs and clones extensively, SPDs are my 5 stars. Bebops work better in some ways and I wanted to like Bebop more than I do, but they do not measure up.

This first paragraph offers some context, the second paragraph is more of a straight-forward review:

I bought these because i was having knee problems. I chose the bebops over speedplays because the bebops are a 2-hole cleat and I simply didn't want to deal with an adapter plate (i used road shoes, they just happen to have both 2 and 3 hole mountings). Unfortunately, upon getting the pedals, I realized the instructions recommend using the adapter plate for both 2 and 3-hole mountings (which contradicts the website where they have a picture of it mounted without a plate, and that disappointed me). At first, I mounted the cleats without a plate. That was a mistake, as there are teeth on the cleat that dug into and shredded the sole of my shoe. I then used the 2-hole "adapter" shim-like thing, and while on a century ride with it, one of the cleats continued to twist sideways, which exaggerated the clip-out angle and made it really difficult to clip out of (admittedly, this...
